Somerset dismantled in under two days against a commanding but not all conquering Yorkshire.

Cricket has been played in Yorkshire's out ground of Scarborough for as long as any county cricket fan can rember, it has been a constant theme of Yorkshire Cricket club however the most prominent constant theme on display throughout this two day game was a batting collapse for Somerset. For the last two or three years Somerset have been more then accustom to batting collapse and this game was no different.

"For the last two or three years Somerset have been more then accustom to batting collapse and this game was no different."

In the first innings wickets were as consistent as the crowds, who witnessed their side dismiss Somerset inside day one for 134. Yorkshire in reply posted a well fought 308 with notable innings from Harry Brook (118) and Jordan Thompson (57). Then keeping the momentum into the afternoon session of day 2 Yorkshire at one stage had Somerset 18-5, and despite a minor fightback they were bowled out cheaply for 141 and slumping to a innings and 33 run defeat inside two days.

Where To Next?

Where to next for Somerset? Well for a starter any hopes of making it to the final of the Bob Willis Trophy for two years in a row is pretty much out of the question for Somerset who sit in 5 in group one with only Hants below them who are yet to finish their round two game versus Warakshire. With a steady crop of young players coming up and a much to large group of experienced players in need of runs it is important they keep their heads up and play for pride and to gain some form or else next season could be the same or even worse then its pre decessor.

So, with a round three game against Lancashire coming up in Taunton, it is crucial that they use their extended break to improve the mental mindset and gain some much needed form to allow them to win some matches and carry some much needed form and momentum into the next season.
